{gluten-free, dairy-free, grain-free, protein-packed}
Waffles are just pancakes with abs, so they’re better for you right? š Well, these are! OK maybe not quite for that reason, but every ingredient in this recipeĀ is good for you. I like to used a plant-based protein powder because (1) I don’t eat dairy, which means I don’t consumeĀ whey or casein protein powders and (2) plant-based protein has a more flour-like consistency, making it a perfect substitute for the flour in baked goods. KeptĀ mine simple this morning, with just a bit of honey and dark chocolate chips, but go ahead and get creative with it!

Ingredients
1/2 cup (usually ~ 2 scoops) vanilla plant-based protein powder (I like Garden of Life)
1 banana, mashed
1 tbsp almond milk, unsweetened
1/2 cupĀ egg whites
1/2 tsp baking powder
Toppings
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips, dairy-free (I like Enjoy Life Foods)
1 tbspĀ honey, maple syrup, or agave

Instructions
1. Allow waffle maker to heat up completely.
2. In a small bowl, mash the banana with your almond milk. Gradually stir in remaining ingredients.Ā You may also use a blender for this step.
3.Ā Spray waffle maker with cooking spray and pour in batter. Cook according to waffle maker instructions, until done.
4.Ā Serve with your choice of toppings. IĀ love fresh fruit, dark chocolate chipsĀ and a drizzle of honey!
