So you want to change the world? First, you have to change your thoughts.

I planted some sunflowers for my parents a bit ago, and my mother recently sent me the pictures below. They’re just about to bloom! To think that so much intricate beauty can come from a tiny seed. We’re a lot like flowers.
We’ve all heard the saying about the seed that falls in good soil. Your surroundings will either support you or hurt you. And that is so powerful. But I think it goes further than that. Not only do we need to plant ourselves around good people.. those who inspire and push us to be better.. but we also need to nourish our minds. Our thoughts dictate everything we do. Often, we let our subconscious sabotage our goals by telling ourselves we aren’t strong enough, don’t have enough self control, or whatever other excuses have been beat into our brains by people and past experiences.

But if you want to change your life, you have to get ahold of your thoughts. Magic is believing in yourself. The moment you start believing in the things that people (and your subconscious mind) tell you aren’t possible, is the moment that your reality will shift. Our thoughts become our words, our words then become our beleifs. Our beliefs become our actions, our actions turn into habits, and our habits become our reality. If you can change your reality, you’ve changed the small bit of world around you. And even if just a bit, you’ve changed the world. Not only that, but your actions will have an impact on those around you. Little by little, it will spread.
Do you know how many times I’ve been told my dreams are too crazy? Or my thoughts irrational? In three of my medical school interviews, after telling my interviewer what I want to do with my career and how I want to influence medicine, I was given a soft smile and told, “Awe. That’s wonderful. But that passion will fade quickly.” In fact, people have been telling me my excitement will fade my whole life! Well, update: my passion still going strong. Sure, I guess all those people could still be right – I still have plenty more years ahead of me. But I know myself way better than they know me. I know that I control my thoughts, my actions, and my world.
So far, none of those people have been right. But if I would have listened to them, they would have been.
Your reality is slowly created by the things you choose to focus on and how you choose to interpret them. You created the life you have – your world – and you can use that very same power inside of you to change it.
In an excuse-free world, our fantasies are our reality. So change your mind, change your actions, then change the world.

“And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.”
~ Anaïs Nin
“Magic is believing in yourself”.
That’s my take away.
Thanks
<3 <3 You are very welcome
This is so true but often so difficult!

Yes, it is definitely NOT easy! But if you become aware of the fact that your subconscious is changing the way you act, or on the decisions you are making, then you can work to realign your goals with your thoughts <3
Never let your passion fade!
Keep that passion no matter what anyone tells you! xo
I agree fully with this post. So much good can come of our lives if we focus on the good in our lives. I’ve learned that I can every thing that I want and still be miserable if I have the wrong frame of mind. This is a good reminder to think positively.
YES! Exactly 🙂 Couldn’t have said that better myself!
I am so glad you didn’t let anyone dull your passion and your want to change the world. I hope you manage to complete all of your dreams.
This is a great post! I totally agree with you! Good things come to people who see positive things even in dark times. It is not what happens that really matter but how you react to it! xx corinne
Your article is inspirational and speaks the truth. The power of positivity starts with our own thoughts. As a licensed therapist one of the reasons I love cognitive behavioral therapy is because it shows how our thoughts feelings and actions are all connected.
Exactly!! It’s great to hear your input!
Reminds me of a quote by Thich Nhat Hanh: The ocean of suffering is immense, but if you turn around, you can see the land.
I love that quote!
How you think is definitely important. If you are negative, then your life is more likely to be negative. Thinking positively really does help!
Yes, I so agree. I try to always focus on the good and be less stressed about things.
Such a positive and inspiring post! I believe we can achieve anything we set our mind to – why not!? ☺️
Love this post & completely agree! It’s really quite disheartening that so many people’s default reaction to big dreams are so negative and patronising – good on you for sticking with yours! Rx
I am going to paint Magic is believing in yourself on a canvas and hang it in my bedroom. It is a very powerful message. This is such a fantastic post.
I love that idea! Please share a pic of the canvas with me when you do!! <3
People who say that to you have likely lost their passion. Just because that happened to them, it does’t mean it will happen to you. You are so right that our mental state does wonders for everything in life!
Yes yes! If we can’t hold onto our passions, what else do we have in life?
I totally agree with you! Always focus on the good things in your live, even if it´s not always easy
I love this post! Magic IS believing in yourself. Changing or modifying your surroundings to being a place of beauty and positivity is so life changing – that PLUS having a wonderfully positive mindset. It’s healing, it’s uplifting, and it’s magical!
Love the sunflowers! There is nothing more majestic than a gorgeous sunflower in bloom! It is a reminder that there is beauty everywhere you look!
Great post. It motivates / inspires me to continue with my dreams – focus on the good and worry less about the bad.
Totally agree it can be hard, but follow your instincts, do not listen anyone and if you dream big you will do it, all the best nice article.
It’s so great that you didn’t let anyone talk you out of doing what you love. And I definitely agree that it all starts with the way you think.
I too was contradicted by people I’ve met, one that stood out the most is a professor. She shared that I had no talent in writing and can never succeed. I considered quitting school because of what she said, but thought otherwise. I may not have pursued a career in journalism but I have a blog running for two years now. 🙂
Following what your heart desires is a lesson I learned. It is not what others would that is important. Such a great article.
Good stuff!!!! <3 🙂 😀
Growing up, one key advice I got that has stayed with me is to keep your dreams close to your heart. Not all dreams need to be shared. Hold your dearest dreams closest and let them bloom.
I love this so much! Thank you for sharing 🙂
love your inquisitive and determined nature 🙂
Thank you so much!
This is a great reminder to keep focused on positive things.I loved the line magic is believing in yourself.
sunflowers make me so happy, and planting anything I think is super healing for the soul
